Intro:

    Ever fought with getting a Molex connecter disconnected from one of the peripherals inside your case before? Sure, we all have. This is where Vantec comes in, and potentially saves the day with their new "EZ-Grip" Molex connecter kit. And hey, it even adds UV reactivity at the same time! Sound slick? Well, please read on then...


About the kit:

    Removing the power from devices inside your computer can be difficult with standard Molex plugs.  The protrusions on the side of the Molex are difficult to hold on firmly and, if you were to exert force, can leave your fingers feeling sore.  The Vantec EZ-Grip Molex connectors simplify the ordeal by putting flexible, rounded grips on the top and bottom of the Molex connector.  Not only do these grips make it easier to hold, but pressing down on the grips separates the connector from the device slightly, perfect for when the Molex connector feels "stuck."  Vantec EZ-Grip Molex Connectors are available in a variety of UV reactive colors.

How it all works:

    Insert the Molex removal tool as far as it will go into the Molex, which I might add, will work on MALE Molex connecters only. Such as the ones that are on a PSU. Push the plunger down on the removal tool, (it operates much like a syringe would) and POP! Out comes your Molex wire. Using common sense, as Vantec says in the installation guide: "IMPORTANT: Remember the order of the cables." So really, I'd do one Molex at a time, one wire at a time, and you won't have any issues. Crossing the wires could be dangerous to your components, as the wrong voltage could do damage. It can be used for good, as in under volting fans, but that is another story or article somewhere in the future.

    Once you have your new "EZ-Grip Molex" installed, pushing on the top and the bottom of the plastic grips will remove your Molex with ease. I mean real ease. If anyone has broken out a pair of pliers to remove a Molex, or screamed an explicative when that one stuck Molex lets go, and you bash your hand on the inside of a case, you will completely appreciate this kit. Which is the whole purpose of the Molex change out kit.

But wait, there is more:

    Four out of Five, of the Molex kits are UV reactive. The black isn't, but the green (as pictured in this review), yellow, blue, and red are. Being a self proclaimed UV nut, I jumped at the chance to look at the green kit. I'll let the next few pics do the talking for now.

Summary:

    Swashing a score around in my head was a tough one. I decided to look at it like this. Judging this kit pretty much as it stands, and what it does, not what it could have been. Let me elaborate... This could have very well been a complete PSU changeover kit. It isn't though. It would go great with Vantec's other PSU sleeving kits. Since none of the sleeving kits come with a Molex removal tool, well, here you go! Missing of course, is the UV Berg connecters, and the plethora of other connecters that are found on PSU's. That of course would jump up the cost, since I would expect Vantec to provide the other removal tools as well. But all in all, removing your present Molex connecters with the included tool is a snap...literally...And let me tell you removing your new Molex's out of a peripheral is a breeze now. Just a little squeeze, and it pushes itself out. Hooray! I just hope Vantec has more up their sleeve in the future for kits of this nature, or just do a complete change over kit from start to finish. In light of that, I'm only knocking off a few points. However, the score of this review is in your eye. You may not want more than what you see here. If that is the case, go add the other 3% on, and go buy a kit now! Or just buy a kit, it's like getting EZ-Grip Molex's for free really.
